Where to Eat - Boca Bay - Sunday Brunch

http://www.bocabayrestaurant.com/

Boca Bay provides the best opportunity for people watching on sleepy Sunday mornings. Yeah, sit around with a couple of friends and pay about $15 apiece (before tip) and just crack on the various types of people that roll in so you can feel good about your crappy life. It's cool and it's human nature, after all.

That $15 goes a long way. This is an all-you-can-eat buffet. But this is a very fashionable, upscale place where "all-you-can-eat" for most of the ladies there is a biscuit, two shrimp, a teaspoon of grits and a strawberry. Most are content to add a Bloody Mary for access to vitamins. By the way, the active ingredient in a Bloody Mary, which is suppose to replenish vitamins lost from the previous nights binge drinking, is vodka! Ah, sweet self-delusion.

The guys and other full-sized people tend to take full advantage of the buffet, which has a great variety of breakfast and lunch foods. The fruit table is always exceptional and there is a nice big selection of fattening cakes and baked good.

The omelet stand is the best part, where you chose your ingredients and have the cook fry it up in front of you. If you want an actual omelet you should ask the cook to whisk the eggs and add a little milk or cream, that way you get...well...a fluffy, tasty omelet. Otherwise, you're going to get fried eggs. So there.

The service is fantastic. These are very well-trained professionals, and if they are having a bad day you will never know it. There may sometimes be a wait if you show up at rush time, or if you want to sit outside near the cool fountain. The other option is to sit inside in one of the two dining room that tend to be boring entertainment-wise.

It's always best to sit where you can see the after-churchers, the roll-out-of-bedders, the just-had-sexers, the tourists, the yacht owners, the magistrates, the pill-poppers, the cougars, the out-of-placers, etc. It is well worth $15.
